Overview:
Located in the eastern part of the Indianapolis metropolitan area, Greenfield is situated on level or slightly rolling terrain. This region has a very temperate climate, including very warm summers with no dry season, and very cold winters from the invasion of frigid northern air.
Maximum temperatures rarely go above 90°F, occurring only about 11 days per year. Precipitation is distributed evenly throughout the year, and there is no pronounced wet or dry season. Rainfall in the spring and summer is produced mostly by showers and thunderstorms. Rainfall of about 2 1/2 inches in a 24-hour period can be expected about once a year. Snowfalls of 3 inches or more occur on an average of two or three times in the winter.
