Three Rivers is located in the southeastern part of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula. The city is located at the confluence of three different rivers: the St. Joseph River, the Rocky River, and the Portage River. Its location inland on the Lower Peninsula leads to larger observed temperature variations than locations closer to the lakes.
Precipitation in Three Rivers is evenly distributed throughout the year, with slight maximums coming in the late summer and early fall months. Heavy precipitation events in the area have become more frequent in recent decades. Temperatures in Three Rivers rarely exceed 90°F in the summer.
