We just lived through the world’s hottest June in recorded history, though you might not know it given Chicago’s unusually cool summer. While a majority of scientists agree that global warming is occurring, its impact on specific regions is harder to tease out. So, what do we know about how climate change will impact the Great Lakes? And how do we prepare for an uncertain future? We talk with Beth Gibbons, a program manager at the Great Lakes Integrated Sciences and Assessments Center at the University of Michigan. She works on climate change adaptation efforts in the Great Lakes region.
